About
The Ministry of Homeland Security is a cornerstone of the country's national security framework, tasked with safeguarding sovereignty, strengthening resilience, and ensuring the safety of all citizens. Its mandate spans intelligence, immigration, cybersecurity, counter-trafficking, drug interdiction, and the coordination of national emergency and disaster management.
The Ministry commands the nation's key protective services; the Police Service, Prison Service, Fire Service and specialized security units, while also overseeing border control, citizenship and work permits, and critical citizen security programmes. Through its statutory agencies, including the Strategic Services Agency and the Firearms Appeal Board, the Ministry leads the drive to preserve public order, protect state institutions, and advance the security priorities of Trinidad and Tobago.
