Job Description
The incumbent is required to assist in the management of the development and preparation of land-use plans and policies as well as the storage, retrieval, manipulation and management of attribute data within the Urban and Regional Planning Department. Duties entail conducting land-use and socio-economic surveys and interviews, site visits and computer related activities.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<div> Assists in conducting land-use and socio-economic surveys and interviews in the collection of data on land-use, building use, physical and social infrastructure, traffic and parking and other town and country planning issues on a monthly basis.</div><div> Provides research and technical support to the Spatial Planning Unit in the area of urban and regional planning, socio-economic profiles and assessment of the trends in development.</div><div> Collates field information, codes and tabulates the information and prepares relevant reports, maps, computerized databases and other appropriate media.</div><div> Assists with the plotting of records of development applications on the appropriate map and district registers.</div><div> Assists in the preparation, updating and maintenance of regional and local area planning records using manual and computer-based formats.</div><div><div> Creates and maintains computerized databases.</div><div> Examines applications for planning permission; assists in researching the history of the applications and prepares a report for the GIS Officer.</div><div> Performs other related duties as may be required.</div><div><br></div><div><div> Knowledge of the methods and techniques of socio-economic and physical planning investigation.</div><div> Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).</div><div> Knowledge of the Geographic Positioning System, Geographic Information Systems and Sequel Server.</div><div> A working knowledge of the road system of Tobago.</div><div> Knowledge of the development standards for Urban and Regional Planning in Trinidad and Tobago.</div><div><br></div><div><div> Ability to read maps and locate sites.</div><div> Ability to organize and conduct field surveys and related duties.</div></div><div><br></div></div><div><br></div></div><div><br></div>
Key Competency
<div> A minimum of five (5) CXC/GCE O Level passes including English Language, Mathematics and Geography.</div><div> Certification in the Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) from an accredited agency or relevant job experience.</div><div> Other suitable combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.</div>
