Job Description
The Survey Technician must be able to provide engineering survey support to the Technical Department in all aspects of technical drawings (engineering, land survey, maps). The officer in this position is required to establish legal boundaries of roadways, recreational grounds, cemeteries, play parks and other land development activities within the Princes Town Regional Corporation. The job requires the use of knowledge of engineering and surveying practices, mathematics and physical sciences to calculate distances and angles for the production of surveying maps and drawings. The successful candidate will report to Engineering and Survey Officer, Technical Department.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Develops Land Survey Reports and Guidelines for the establishment of legal boundaries and support development activities or acquisition of land for recreational parks, cemeteries and other public spaces.</li><li>Prepares survey drawings with detailed schematic to aid in identification of property boundaries.<ul></ul></li><li><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Measure distances and angles on roadways, recreation grounds, cemeteries, playparks and other properties under the purview of the Regional Corporation.</span></li><li><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Performs Mathematical Calculations</span></li><li><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Establishes boundaries based on previous surveys and records, marking reference points or landmarks</span></li><li><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Conduct Historical and Legal Property Research to determine current boundary information and historical surveying activities to ensure data accuracy of roadways and other the properties</span></li><li><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Performs other duties as assigned by the Engineering &amp; Survey Officer</span></li></ul>
Key Competencies
<ul><li>Previous experience and training as a Surveyor or similar role.<ul></ul></li><li> Minimum of three (3) years industry related practices and experiences.</li><li> Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.</li><li> Ability to use hand surveying tools (distance measuring wheels, plumb bobs, levels, total station, theodolite) to accurately measure land features</li><li> Ability to use Electronic surveying tools (transit levels, GPS equipment)</li><li> Ability to read and interpret ward sheets, surveying maps, cadastral and survey plans</li><li> Ability to prepare surveying drawings accurately from oral instructions, rough sketches and notes.<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">&nbsp;</span></li><li> Ability to grasp abstract technical concepts and translate them into survey drawings.</li><li> Ability to manage a large number of projects concurrently, with accuracy and speed.</li><li> Ability to forecast impending problems and advise the Engineering &amp; Survey Officer.</li><li> Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.</li><li> Ability to communicate with stakeholders outside of Technical Department.</li></ul>
