Job Description
The incumbent is required to perform Legal work at the Diego Martin Borough Corporation. Duties include, providing legal advice and opinions and drafting legal documents on the matter involving the Corporation. Depending on assignment, the incumbent may be required to perform some of the full range of the duties of the position.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Conduct research related to the laws and legal issues pertinent to the operation of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation.<div><br></div><div> Prepare legal documents for review and finalization of the Corporate Secretary.</div><div> Draft correspondence, monitor calendars and meeting deadlines for and on behalf of the Corporate Secretary.</div><div><br></div><div> Develop and maintain a repository of documents on legal matters in which the Corporation may be involved or named.</div><div><br></div><div> Where necessary, assist the Corporate Secretary in executing his/her duties for and on behalf of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation.</div><div><br></div><div> Enhance the effectiveness of the Office of the Corporate Secretary by developing case information, evidence and settlement options; tracking matters; and supporting any trial proceedings with which the Corporate Secretary may be assigned, on behalf of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation.</div><div><br></div><div> Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.</div>
Key Competencies
Considerable knowledge of the Municipal Corporations Act, Bye Laws, Regulations, practices and procedures associated with Local Government.<div> Working knowledge of legislation, procedures and practices relevant to the operations of the Corporation.</div><div> Working knowledge of Tender &amp; Contract, Litigation, Conveyancing and Industrial Relations laws.</div><div> Ability to work independently with a minimum of direction.</div><div> Excellent communication skills (oral, written and interpersonal).</div><div> Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.</div><div><br></div>
