Job Description
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; ">The Municipal Senior Superintendent of Police is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of seven (7) Divisions of the Municipal Police Service and implementing policies, programmes, procedures and strategies geared towards crime prevention and the maintenance of law and order in the Boroughs, Cities and Regional Corporations of Trinidad.<o:p></o:p></p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p><b>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</b><o:p></o:p></p> <ul><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Supports the Municipal Assistant Commissioner of Police in the discharge of his responsibility for the efficient and effective management of the human and physical resources of the Municipal Police Service.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Ensures the proper implementation of crime prevention, policies and programmes and adherence to rules, regulations and standard operating procedures for the maintenance of law and order in the Municipal Police Divisions within a specified Region.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Prepares work plans and schedules for the effective administration and operation for the Region.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Monitors and reviews the work performed by staff and provides technical advice and guidance in respect of complex administrative and operational matters.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Conducts developmental training programmes for officers in relation to the law, new techniques in policing, departmental regulations and other relevant matters.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Appraises staff, identifies training needs and recommends suitable training programmes for staff development.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Initiates disciplinary action in response to allegations of misconduct or other breaches of the law and the Municipal Regulations.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Develops operational plans, policies and strategies for the policing and supervision of special events and functions.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Submits reports, with appropriate recommendations where necessary to the Assistant Commissioner in relation to the administrative and operational activities of the Region.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Directs and supervises the investigation of complex criminal matters.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Represents the Municipal Police Service at meetings, seminars and workshops and other official forum as necessary.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of policing service delivery methods and procedures in the Region.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Assists in the preparation of draft Estimates of Expenditure<o:p></o:p></li><li style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;">Performs other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;"><br></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b>KNOWLEDGE:&nbsp;&nbsp;</b>&nbsp; <o:p></o:p></p> <ul><li style="margin-left: 54pt;">Extensive knowledge of law enforcement principles and practices and the criminal justice system.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="margin-left: 54pt;">Extensive knowledge of the rules of evidence and court procedures.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="margin-left: 54pt;">Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.<o:p></o:p></li><li style="margin-left: 54pt;">Sound knowledge of management principles and practices.<o:p></o:p></li></ul>
