Job Description
The IT Assistant provides day-to-day technical and operational support to the Information Technology Department. The position assists with user support, computer equipment, network connectivity, IT systems and routine technology-related activities to support the reliable operation of the Authority's IT services.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
1. Provides day-to-day technical support to employees, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network connectivity, printing and other IT-related issues.<div><br></div><div>2. Assists with the installation, configuration, upgrade and maintenance of desktops, laptops, software and other IT equipment.</div><div><br></div><div>3. Assists with monitoring and supporting the Authority's network and connectivity.</div><div><br></div><div>4. Assists with Microsoft 365, user accounts and system access permissions.</div><div><br></div><div>5. Assists with routine IT security activities, including software updates, endpoint protection and security alerts.</div><div><br></div><div>6. Maintains accurate records of IT equipment, software, licences, warranties, repairs and equipment assigned to employees.</div><div><br></div><div>7. Assists with routine monitoring of servers, storage and other IT equipment and escalates technical issues as required.</div><div><br></div><div>8. Provides technical support for meeting-room and video-conferencing equipment and assists with user support for business applications.</div><div><br></div><div>9. Assists with IT projects, equipment deployment and system upgrades, and follows up with approved service providers on technical matters as required.</div><div><br></div><div>10. Documents technical issues and resolutions and performs other related duties consistent with the position, as assigned.</div><div><br></div><div>11. Performs other related duties as required.</div>
Key Competencies
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant qualifications, training and experience.<div><br></div><div> A minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience in IT technical support, systems support, network support or a similar environment.</div><div><br></div><div> Working knowledge of computer networks, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365.</div><div><br></div><div> Practical experience troubleshooting hardware, software and network-related issues.</div><div><br></div><div> Exposure to backup/recovery, virtualisation, servers or storage systems would be an asset.</div><div><br></div><div> Good analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.</div><div><br></div><div> Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately.</div>
