Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for providing occupational safety and health laws, codes and regulations. Will also be responsible for the preparation of programs, projects, plans and statements, undertaking inspection of work systems/ procedures and preparing appropriate reports.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p> Accident investigations and submissions of reports.</p><p> Notifications to OSHA on Form 3 for loss time accidents.</p><p> Submission of documentary evidence to OSHA on reportable accidents including: Description of accident and how it happened, immediate &amp; root causes of the accident, statement of the injured party, witness statements of the accident, photographs of the accident scene, contact numbers of injured , job description of the injured party, injury leave certificate, medical certificate, risk assessment for the activity that was being conducted, standard operating procedures for the particular activity, fit to work certificate and summary of the training received by job specific training records of the injured.</p><p> Inspection of recreation grounds, play parks and all other areas under the purview of the Corporation and submission of reports.</p><p> Inspection of construction, maintenance, as well as, contractors worksites, and submission of reports.</p><p> Facilitate request from other agencies and submission of information and reports</p><p> Monthly inspections of fire extinguishers at the Main Administrative office, Princes Town Public Market, Transport Compound and the Municipal Police Post.</p><p> Orientation of contractors and new employees prior to undertaking work.</p><p> Safety briefs inclusive of evacuation procedures for seminars undertaken at the Main Administrative Building.</p><p> Coordinating and arranging meeting schedules for the Health and Safety Committee.</p><p> Issuance of Unsafe Act. Notices to contractors.</p><p> Coordinating and undertaking of annual fire drills at the Main Administrative Building.</p><p> Annual amendments to the Emergency Response Plan for the Diesel Tank, Health and Safety Policy of the Corporation, Fleet Safety Program, as well as the Evacuation Plans for the PTRC Main Administrative Building and the Public Market.</p><p> Annual review of risk assessments for mechanical brush cutting operations, Janitorial Work, Mural painting by schools at the car park, mechanics, auto body works, electrical works, plumbing, driving corporation vehicles, Hiab Trucks, construction and maintenance work, office environment, welding, diesel tank and photocopy room.</p><p> Annual review of operating procedures for work involving: motor graders, lifting operations with Hiab and Forklift Trucks, Fire and use of fire extinguishers, cement, reinforcing rebars, and mesh, foam work, trenches and excavations, manual material handling, housekeeping, scaffolding, fall protection, hand and power tools, electrical safety, welding operations, mounting and dismounting heavy equipment, step ladders, portable ladders, use and maintenance of PTRC vehicles, tyre mechanics and office safety.</p><p> Drafting of guidance documents on prescribed Health and Safety requirements.</p><p> Assessments of Protective Equipment for all departments.</p><p> Facilitate Annual re-certificate of the fire Alarm system at the Main Administrative Office and Princes Town Public Market.</p><p> Facilitate Annual re-certificate of Fire Extinguishers at the Main Administrative Office, Princes Town Public Market, Transport Compound and the Municipal Police Post.</p><p> Monthly safety briefs conducted for employees attached to the Transport Section.</p><p> Responses to Fire Services and OSHA regarding all Health and Safety related matters.</p><p><br></p>
Key Competencies
<p> A Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety and Health.</p><p> MSC in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health</p><p> Exceptional working knowledge of the Trinidad and Tobago OSH Act.</p><p> A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of active experience in an H.S.E. role in the private or public sector.</p>
