Job Description
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">The Manager, Legal and Estate Services is responsible for leading and managing the Company's legal and estate management functions to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, corporate governance standards and regulatory requirements. The Manager provides strategic legal guidance and oversight to support sound decision making, safeguard the Company's interests and assets to ensure delivery of legal and estate services in a safe, customer focused, quality driven, cost effective and timely manner.</p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Develops and implements strategic work programs for the Legal and Estate Services Department in alignment with the Company's Corporate Strategic Plan.</li><li>Prepares, manages and monitors the Departments budgets and monitors activities to ensure efficient utilization of resources and compliance with approved financial provisions.</li><li>Oversees the preparation review and execution of all legal documentation and corporate legal instruments.&nbsp;</li><li>Provides sound legal advice and guidance to the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and Key Stakeholders to facilitate decision-making.</li><li>Manages and coordinates the Company's representation in legal proceedings, litigation matters, disputes, dispute resolution proceedings is appropriately represented at the Courts on matters such as litigation, disputes or coroners inquests.</li><li>Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with government agencies, Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries and other Key Stakeholders to support the achievement of the Company's corporate objectives.</li><li>Leads, mentors and develops staff within the Department through training, coaching, succession planning, and performance management initiatives.</li><li>Prepares and presents reports, legal opinions, proposals and recommendations to the Board of Directors and relevant Committees as required.&nbsp;</li><li>Leads or participates in special projects and corporate initiatives related to Legal and Estate Services.</li><li>Promotes and ensures compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Industrial Relations, and Human Resource policies and procedures.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs any other related duties as may be required to successfully achieve departmental and organizational objectives.</li></ul>
Key Competencies
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>Qualifications and Experience:</u></b></p><ul><li>A recognized professional legal qualification and certification to practice law in Trinidad and Tobago.</li><li>At least ten (10) years progressive experience at a senior management level within a related industry.</li><li>Experience in property, estate, corporate, or commercial law will be an asset.</li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><b><u><br></u></b></p><p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>Knowledge:</u></b></p><ul><li>Thorough knowledge of the laws and legal incidents of Trinidad and Tobago.</li><li>Knowledge of Property and Estate Management principles and practices</li><li>Knowledge of corporate governance, contract management, and regulatory compliance.</li><li>Knowledge of financial planning and budgeting and resource management.</li><li>Knowledge of relevant computer applications and productivity tools.</li><li>Knowledge of development/trends in the field of law, both locally and abroad and in particular on judgments and new legislation which may impact on the Company's operations</li><li>Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment practices and procedures.</li><li>Knowledge of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management practices and procedures.</li></ul><p><br></p><p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>Skills:</u></b></p><ul><li>Strategic Planning and Execution, Leadership and People Management, Legal Drafting and Interpretation, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Risk-Analysis/Management, Analytical and Critical Thinking, Communication and Presentation Skills, Stakeholder and Relationship Management, Problem Solving and Decision Making.</li></ul>
