The Compliance Officers will work with the Compliance Manager and across the plant and head office, to help build a credible, practical and measurable compliance programme with visibility to Executive Management and the Board Audit Committee.<div><br></div><div>Help build the compliance function that protects one of Trinidad and Tobago's most important power producers.</div><div><br></div><div>Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU), a state-owned independent power producer and key contributor to the national electricity supply, is recruiting two Compliance Officers. These are hands-on roles for professionals who take ownership, follow matters through and act before compliance gaps become business risks.</div><div><br></div><div>Working with the Compliance Manager and across the plant and head office, the successful candidates will help build a credible, practical and measurable compliance programme with visibility to Executive Management and the Board Audit Committee.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Two complementary opportunities:</b></div><div><br></div><div><b>Compliance Officer 1</b> Investigations and Whistleblower Support: manage intake and triage, develop case plans, support or lead investigations, safeguard confidentiality and procedural fairness, and prepare evidence-based recommendations and committee-ready reports.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Compliance Officer 2 </b> Regulatory Policy and Compliance Monitoring: build and maintain the compliance obligations register, coordinate policy governance, conduct monitoring and testing, track remediation, and develop dashboards, training and awareness initiatives.</div><div><br></div><div>Both officers will share a common compliance foundation, cover core duties for each other when required and may apply for either or both areas of emphasis.</div><div><br></div><div><b><u>QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE</u></b></div><div><b><u><br></u></b></div><ul><li>A Bachelors degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.</li><li>At least three years experience in compliance, risk management, audit or a regulatory role.</li><li>Demonstrated integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, documentation discipline and the courage to challenge and escalate appropriately.</li></ul><p><br></p><ul><li><b>Compliance Officer 1: </b>Hands-on investigations experience is essential; a legal background or formal investigations training is strongly preferred.</li><li><b>Compliance Officer 2: </b>Experience managing compliance obligations, policy governance, monitoring or regulatory change is essential.</li></ul><div><b><u><br></u></b></div><ul><li>Experience in a regulated sector is preferred; energy, utilities or heavy-industry experience and relevant compliance, risk, AML or fraud certification are assets.</li></ul>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Own assigned compliance processes and keep statutory, regulatory, contractual and policy obligations current, documented and auditable.</li><li>Track high-priority compliance and audit matters to closure, escalating unresolved concerns through the proper channels.</li><li>Produce clear, concise reporting for the Compliance Manager, Executive Management and the Board Audit Committee.</li></ul>
