Job Description
<p>The officer is responsible for providing professional help, counselling and support to employees of the Police Service and their families and to assist generally in maintaining the general welfare and well being of employees in a manner consistent with cultural ethical work standards.</p><p><br></p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p><b><u>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</u></b></p><ul><li>Conducts counselling and therapy sessions with employees and members of their families, both in person and online.</li><li>Determines needs for specialized social support services and provides liaison services and accompaniment where needed to other agencies.</li><li>Provides professional information on rehabilitation programmes.</li><li>Assists individuals through therapeutic interventions to understand, cope with and overcome personal, emotional, social and economic problems.</li><li>Conducts visits to the homes of employees and/or their families to render assistance.</li><li>Assists in planning developing, evaluating and improving support services for staff.</li><li>Maintains case records on individuals.</li><li>Required to engage with senior officers of the Police Service, the wider Public Service and private and professional organizations as advised by supervisors.</li><li>Administers and prepares reports on achievements and services provided.</li><li>Prepares Annual Administration reports.</li><li>Access database for employees' records as needed and directed by supervisor.</li><li>Develops programmes and projects in accordance with established policies.</li><li>Develop inter and intra-agency relationships aimed at assisting employees.</li><li>Facilitates workshops on mental health related topics.</li><li><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.26);">Provide in-person support at Funerals, Hospitals, Schools and other related spaces to support employees and members of their families.</span></li><li><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.26);">Contribute to outreach and the development of publications to promote the services of the unit.</span></li><li><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.26);">Participate in multidisciplinary tea meetings aimed at improved interventions for staff.</span></li><li><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.26);">Develop and deliver treatment plans for staff using theoretical and evidenced-based approaches.</span></li><li><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.26);">Performs other related duties as determined by the Social Worker.</span></li><li>&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp;</li></ul>

<p><b><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</u></b></p><p><b><u>Knowledge:&nbsp;</u></b></p><ul><li>Knowledge of mental health interventions and techniques.</li><li>Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of social work.</li><li>Knowledge of current social, economic and health problems and the environmental factors which impact these.</li><li>Knowledge of individual human behavior.</li><li>Knowledge of mental health issues and current trends.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b><u>Skills and Abilities:</u></b></p><ul><li>Ability to establish and maintain professional confidential relations.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively.</li><li>Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.</li><li><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates in the Police Service and other agencies.</span></li></ul><p><br></p><p><b><u>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:</u></b></p><ul><li>Possession of a University Bachelor's of Degree or post graduate qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or a related field focused on delivering therapeutic interventions.&nbsp;</li><li>Minimum of four (4) years delivering therapy to both adult and child populations after attaining University degree.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p>
