Job Description
<div>The General Manager Policy, Planning and Research will be responsible for the development of policies, strategic planning and research of clinical and other support services, to ensure the effective co-ordination of all regional initiatives, that redounds to an improved delivery of health and health care services at the South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA).</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>He/She will be responsible for leading the process for the development of SWRHAs Strategic Plan, in accordance with the organisations strategic direction. He/She will be required to establish linkages with all Executive Managers and Clinical Heads in an attempt to initiate and positively influence all change initiatives. He/She will spearhead the generation and use of health surveillance, service demand or throughput data to inform policies, plans, research agendas and accountabilities to authorized requesting agencies for such information.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>The General Manager Policy, Planning &amp; Research will contribute as a member of the Senior Management Team in the Authoritys Transformation Thrust. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p>Leads the strategic planning function to ensure that SWRHA has effective holistic strategies, which will deliver long-term health improvement.</p><p> </p><div>Directs and controls the applications and implementation of established Health Service systems, policies, and programmes to ensure the achievement of approved work targets.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Develops, reviews and communicates policies to stakeholders and provides strategic advice and guidance.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Oversees the development and implementation of effective systems of collecting and analyzing data whether manually, electronically and where required utilizing geospatial software.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Develops and implements systems that provide for the monitoring and evaluation of organisational performance and policy adherence.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Utilises best practices and appropriate technologies to ensure that available resources are utilised in a cost effective manner.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Provides support to the Chief Executive Officer in the development and implementation of corporate strategies.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Fosters co-operation among the Regional Health Authorities, public agencies, the private sector and customers in an effort to monitor and implement measures that would support Health Sector Reform.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Monitors and evaluates the implementation of approved Health Service Quality Management programmes, promotions and special events so as to facilitate the achievement of established performance targets.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Develops the RHAs Business Plan in response to the Ministrys Purchasing Intentions. </div><div><br></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><p></p>
Key Competencies
<p>Masters in Public Health or Health Administration.</p><p> </p><div>BSc Degree from an accredited university in Social Sciences or Public Policy/Health or related field in Health Administration.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>At least ten (10) years experience in the field, of which five (5) years must be in a senior management position.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>Experience in a Health Care environment will be an asset. </div><div><br></div><p></p>
