Job Description
The Regional Manager, Pharmacy Services is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a drug distribution system that meets facility needs and the requirements of regulating agencies. The officer is responsible for administering a clinical pharmacy program consisting of patient education and counseling, drug use reviews and pharmaceutical consultations. He/she is also required to develop, implement and maintain an in-service education and training program for pharmacy staff and students. The Regional Manager, Pharmacy Services is also required to supervise professional pharmacy staff involved in clinical pharmacy activities and other support staff.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p>Plans, direct, implement and evaluates a comprehensive pharmacy program consisting of a large and complex drug distribution system and clinical pharmacy services of substantial scope.</p><p> <div>Develops, implements and reviews pharmacy policy and procedures to ensure that the services conform to facility needs and legislation. </div><div><br></div><div>Supervisors, directly and through subordinates, professional Pharmacists and subordinate pharmacy staff involved in preparing and dispensing medication and providing clinical pharmacy services such as patient education and counseling, drug use reviews, pharmacokinetics and pharmaceutical consultations. </div><div><br></div><div>Ensures compliance with relevant legislation. </div><div><br></div><div>Plans and controls the pharmacys budget and use of equipment, space and supply resources to effectively meet the pharmacys goals and objectives. </div><div><br></div><div>Ensures the maintenance of an effective pharmacy inventory management system. </div><div><br></div><div>Prepares periodic reports of pharmacy program evaluations. </div><div><br></div><div>Estimates pharmacy needs in terms of personnel, drug inventories, supplies and equipment. </div><div><br></div><div>Prepares budget recommendations. </div><div><br></div><div>Maintains pharmacy records according to facility and regulating and accrediting agency guidelines. </div><div><br></div><div>Maintains oversight of stock expiry to prevent wastage. </div><div><br></div><div>Ensures compliance with sterile and non-sterile preparation practices and standards. </div><div><br></div><div>Ensures accreditation status of facilities and staff is maintained and up to date. </div><div><br></div><div>Manages technology to optimize operations and efficiency. </div><div><br></div><div>Ability to use the relevant computer applications related to job functions. </div><div><br></div><div>Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by the Authority </div><div><br></div></p>
Key Competencies
B.Sc. Degree in Pharmacy or Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized University. <div><br></div><div>Bachelors Degree in Management or related field. </div><div><br></div><div>At least eight (8) years experience in Pharmacy Services; five (5) of which must be at a managerial/supervisory level. </div><div><br></div><div>Must also have considerable experience as a Pharmacist. </div><div><br></div><div>Registered as a licensed Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago. </div><div><br></div><div>Current practicing certificate from the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago. </div><div><br></div><div> </div><div> </div>
