Job Description
The Regional Manager, Psychiatric Mental Health in collaboration with the Head Psychiatric Department is required to efficiently manage all Psychiatric and Mental Health Services within the South-West Region.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p>Monitors, reviews and evaluates all of the operations of the Psychiatric and Mental Health Services within the South-West Regional Health Authority.</p><p><div>Advises the Director of Health, the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of SWRHA on matters concerning Mental Health.</div><div><br></div><div>Advises and liaises with the National Director of Mental Health and the National Mental Health Unit, Ministry of Health, on matters concerning Mental Health within the South-West region.</div><div><br></div><div>Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates a regional plan for Psychiatric / Mental Health Services that is aligned to the strategic goals of the South-West Regional Health Authority and the National Mental Health Policy.</div><div><br></div><div>Establishes policies and protocols, as it pertains to mental health.</div><div><br></div><div>Prepares budget proposals and administers budgets.</div><div><br></div><div>Develops and reviews the organizational structure for the Psychiatric / Mental Health Department.</div><div><br></div><div>Trains and educates staff under their purview in relation to the delivery of mental health services.</div><div><br></div><div>Provides and ensures effective leadership, operational and clinical governance to all departmental staff and mental health services.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Plans, implements and oversees mental health promotional/educational activities and programmes.</div><div><br></div><div>Prepares operational and informational reports.</div><div><br></div><div>Liaises internally with executives, institutional heads and departmental heads.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Liaises externally with governmental agencies and other stakeholders.</div><div><br></div><div>Represents the Authoritys mental health interest with institutions and organizations locally, regionally and internationally.</div><div><br></div><div>Serves on the Regional Mental Health Committee, the Mental Health Clinical Review Committee and the Health Promotions Committee.</div><div><br></div><div>Establishes, monitors and evaluates departmental workforce standards of performance and makes recommendations re: Training Needs, Promotion and Monetary Rewards.</div><div><br></div></p>
Key Competencies
<p>A Masters Degree in Social Sciences or Psychiatric Nursing or Health Administration or Health Planning.</p><p><div>At least eight (8) years working experience and training in Psychiatry/Mental Health, five (5) of which at a managerial/supervisory level.</div><div><br></div><div>Experience and/ or training in mental health education/promotion.</div><div><br></div></p>
