Job Description
An employee in this class is responsible to assist the Building Inspector in examining all buildings, and building areas both in the course of construction and on completion and ensures all plans and policies are within the Building Section Regulations.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Assist the Building Inspector in developing departmental policies pertinent to the Building Section implementation.<div> Examine plans and specifications, check structural details including drawings of Reinforced Concrete, Steel and Timber structures, make detailed sketches and correction on plans for the compliance with the requirements of the building codes and relevant regulations.</div><div> Inspect and report on buildings during and after construction to ensure compliance with building laws and regulations.</div><div> Assist in providing information/reports to members of the public on matters regarding building requirements and structural application codes.</div><div> Assist the Building Inspector in checking of complaints, serving of notices and preparation of reports pertaining to the breaches of Building Regulations.</div><div><br></div>
Key Competencies
Experience in building construction works and training as evidenced by a National Engineering Technician Diploma (NETD) in Civil Engineering or other equivalent combination of experience and training.<div> Knowledge and methods in building bye-laws, regulations, building codes and the ability to interpret, explain and enforce compliance.</div><div> Knowledge of Auto CAD would be an asset</div><div> Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications and to recognize deviation from such plans.</div><div> Proficiency in Microsoft Office.</div><div> Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.</div><div> At least Three (3) years experience in the field.</div>
