Job Description
The Dentist II will be responsible for the daily operation of the Dental Clinic to which they are assigned. He/She will also provide training of Dentists under their supervision.<div><br></div><div>The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management.</div><div><br></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Organizes, supervises and directs all activities in the Dental Clinic, providing dental attention to patients of the Clinic and surrounding districts.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs dental examinations of out-patients, diagnoses and make prognoses, makes daily checks, writes and maintains up-to-dates case records and makes necessary medical reports.&nbsp;</li><li>Undertakes medico-legal duties as may be reasonably required of him/her with specialist advice if necessary.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs a full range of clinical services.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists with the orientation of new Dentists assigned to the Authority.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs regular clinical rounds to assess patients day to day management and care.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensures that forms from the Laboratory/Radiology are adequately annotated to assist the relevant personnel in providing an optimal service.&nbsp;</li><li>Supervises the use of drugs and their efficacy and duration in patient care and ensure prevention of their abuse.</li><li>Ensures proper communication to all patients as to the nature of their illness and the outlook in the treatment of their well-being, so that they understand the full extent of their recovery/disability as may be the case.</li><li>Ensures that all patients are treated in accordance with the Patient Charter Standards.</li><li>Ensures that all case discharge summaries are promptly written, and are accurate, relevant and concise, and must be countersigned by him/her.</li><li>Teaches and expands the knowledge and education of their junior colleagues and dental students.</li><li>Ensures that the dental staff who are supervised by him/her adhere to the professional code of conduct and human resources policies and procedures of the Authority.</li><li>Attends and participates in teaching clinics and lectures.</li><li>Performs other related duties as directed by the organizational relationship.</li></ul>
Key Competencies
<ul><li>Training as evidenced by the possession of a Degree in Dentistry.<ul></ul></li><li>Registration as a Dentist by the Dental Registration Committee of Trinidad and Tobago.</li><li>Post Graduate and certification in Public Health or Business Administration is an asset.</li><li>Three to five (3-5) years experience in a similar capacity at a Hospital.</li></ul>
