Job Description
The Senior Dietitian is required to assist in the planning, development and implementation of the Food Service Programme and clinical services at any Facility under the purview of the Sourh-West Regional Health Authority.<div><br></div><div>The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management.</div><div><br></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Supervises the work of other Dietitians and staff in the department.<ul></ul></li><li>Plans, organizes and directs all food service activities in the hospital and other institutions.</li><li>Determines food to be used on the basis of acceptable dietetic standards.</li><li>Supervises the preparation of menus and meals.</li><li>Assesses nutritional status of patients/clients if required.</li><li>Analyses nutrition assessment data of patients/clients if required.</li><li>Implements and integrates Nutrition Care Plans into Medical/Health Care Plans.</li><li>Maintains nutrition related data and Nutrition Care Plans in the patients medical records if required.</li><li>Maintains HSE/Food Safety and Standards in all food service establishments.</li><li>Liaises with the relevant stakeholders to coordinate nutrition services.</li><li>Advises patients on food selection and preparation based on medical recommendations and nutritional needs if required.</li><li>Develops and participates in Training and Developmental Programmes for staff engaged in food preparation.</li><li>Assists with the preparation of the annual operating budget and maintains cost control systems.</li><li>Lectures to Dietetic, Nursing and Medical students and other interested groups/staff.</li><li>Assists in executing contingency plans for mass feeding in cases of disaster.</li><li>Maintains relevant departmental records.</li><li>Engages in development and implementation of Internship Programmes.</li><li>Develops and manages the roster for Nutrition and Dietetics staff.&nbsp;</li><li>Completes the Performance Appraisal Reports of subordinate staff.</li><li>Conducts field visits of health promotion activities.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs other related duties as may be required.&nbsp;</li></ul>
Key Competencies
<ul><li>Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.<ul></ul></li><li>Completion of at least a forty-eight (48) hour training course in Supervisory Management or /Business Administration evidenced by certification.&nbsp;</li><li>A minimum of seven (7) years experience in Food Service Systems Management and Clinical Nutrition at levels of Primary and Secondary care. At least two (2) years working experience at a Supervisory level.</li><li>Current registration with the Nutritionists and Dietitians Board of Trinidad &amp; Tobago.</li><li>Possession of a valid Food Badge.</li><li>Work experience in both the Private and Public Sector would be considered an asset.&nbsp;</li></ul>
