Job Description
The Psychologist provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, individual, group and family therapy, Case Management Services, Referrals and follow up to acute, chronic or moderately disturbed mentally ill patients. Provides consultations with outside facilities and/or agencies.<div><br></div><div>The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management</div><div><br></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Provides Psychological Assessment and Evaluation.&nbsp;<ul></ul></li><li>Provides crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment.</li><li>Provides psychological consultations to other Mental Health Professionals within hospitals, clinics and other community-based agencies with regard to patient care.</li><li>Attends and participates in ward conferences.</li><li>Devises and conducts appropriate psychotherapy.</li><li>Holds the responsibility for the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students.</li><li>Collaborates and participates in activities in planning and development of the Psychology Services in the department and institutions.</li><li>Ensures the integrity of patients medical records.</li><li>Develops and maintains standards of care for patients.</li><li>Assists with research projects.</li><li>Prepares and conducts seminars, lectures and workshops on mental health education.</li><li>Keeps in supply relevant testing materials and other materials necessary for the efficient functioning of the Psychology Services.</li><li>Participates in departmental committee and staff meetings.</li></ul>
Key Competencies
<ul><li>A Postgraduate Degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized university.<ul></ul></li><li>Registration with the Psychological association of Trinidad and Tobago.</li><li>Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry would be an asset.</li></ul>
