<div>JOB SUMMARY</div><div>Reporting to the Communications Shift Supervisor, the Telecommunicator will be responsible for receiving, processing and conveying public safety information to dispatchers, law enforcement officers, fire officers and emergency medical personnel</div><div><br></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<div> Operates the 999 feature telephone instruments.</div><div><br></div><div> Operates the 999 Computer terminal/console.</div><div><br></div><div> Analyses, verifies, checks and records information received and or shown on the computer monitors.</div><div><br></div><div> Receives and makes telephone calls to the public.</div><div><br></div><div> Responds to persons in stressful, dangerous or life threatening situations.</div><div><br></div><div> Communicates medical and other recommendations and procedures.</div><div><br></div><div> Conferences and forwards calls as required.</div><div><br></div><div> Follows up abandoned, prank, hang up, and or nuisance calls as required.</div><div><br></div><div> Records all data in the Incident Report Register and routes calls and information to the Dispatchers, Response centers, and/or other response personnel.</div><div><br></div><div> Co-ordinates between public and response personnel.</div><div><br></div><div> Supplies general information to the one Public.</div><div><br></div><div> Prepares reports on incidents and other matters.</div><div><br></div><div> Collates statistics on calls received and the outcome.</div><div><br></div>

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:<div> Excellent command of the English Language.</div><div> Excellent listening skills.</div><div> Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</div><div> The ability to function as a Team Player.</div><div><br></div><div>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:&nbsp;</div><div> Five (5) CXC subjects including English at General Proficiency Level I, II or III after 1998.</div><div> Computer Literate as evidenced by a Certificate from a Registered Institution.</div><div> Staff supervision and training experience will be an asset.</div><div> Training and experience in Public Safety and/or First Aid will be an asset.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
