Job Description
The incumbent assesses injuries, administers emergency medical care and accompanies sick/injured detainees and/or members of staff at the Centre to medical facilities. Work is conducted under the supervision of a senior officer. 
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p>Conducts a brief medical screening on arriving detainees.&nbsp;</p><ul><li> Conducts basic medical evaluations on detainees and submits findings to the Senior Emergency Medical technician for appropriate action. </li><li>Monitors all medical/health related matters involving detainees and reports observations to the Senior Emergency Medical Technician for appropriate action.&nbsp;</li><li> Administers first-aid treatment at the Centre. Performs emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures such as stomach suction, airway management and heart monitoring.&nbsp;</li><li> Administers drugs orally and by injection and performs certain intravenous procedures.&nbsp;</li><li> Comforts and reassures sick/injured detainees.&nbsp;</li><li> Co-ordinates work with other emergency medical personnel and Police/Fire officials if required.&nbsp;</li><li> Utilize ambulances and equipment in accordance with established procedures for the delivery of effective emergency treatment. </li><li>Provide receiving hospital or Health Centre Staff with oral and written reports (PCR) of observations and patient care provided and assists as required </li><li>Conduct cleaning and decontamination of vehicles interior and exterior and their ancillary equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures. </li><li>Operates communication equipment&nbsp;</li><li> Performs other related duties.&nbsp;</li></ul>

<ul><li>Ability to lift up to 50lbs. and drag 175lbs.&nbsp;</li><li> Ability to function efficiently in a volatile and stressful work environment. </li><li>Ability to analyze situations objectively, and quickly determine the proper course of action to be taken.&nbsp;</li><li> Ability to work long hours and also at nights, on weekends and on public holidays.&nbsp;</li><li> Knowledge of Emergency vehicle inventory and maintenance procedures. </li><li>Knowledge and skills in Basic Life Support (BLS)&nbsp;</li><li> Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.&nbsp;</li><li> Ability to ensure the confidentiality of privileged information.&nbsp;</li><li> Written and verbal communication skills at a level commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. </li><li>Basic computer literacy.&nbsp;</li></ul>
