Job Description
The incumbent would be required to supervise the spatial planning research and data gathering system, produce sector reports on development planning and development control and develop the GIS utilization to support the reform of the decision-making in planning.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<div> Initiates programmes and projects to improve the spatial planning function in the Urban and Regional Planning Department.</div><div> Formalizes the Geographical Information System arrangements for the Tobago House of Assembly.</div><div> Liaises with relevant Statutory Agencies on issues related to planning in Tobago.</div><div> Liaises with other Divisions of the Tobago House of Assembly towards the effective implementation of the spatial planning functions in Tobago.</div><div> Inspects the quality of recorded images, verifies metadata and inputs geo-spatial data.</div><div> Performs data editing and maintenance of operating systems and databases.</div><div> Integrates spreadsheets, statistical data and other research with GIS Software.</div><div> Supports the research function in spatial planning.</div><div> Trains and provides technical support to GIS users internally.</div><div> Performs other related duties as may be required.</div><div><br></div><div><div> Knowledge of Research methods and data analysis.</div><div> Considerable knowledge of geo-spatial information/ GIS and its application in development planning and development control.</div><div> Knowledge of data and metadata standards for spatial information.</div><div><br></div><div><div> Ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations.</div><div> Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</div><div> Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.</div><div> Ability to work as a member of a team with good problem solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.</div><div> Ability to maintain high ethical standards in internal and external relationships.</div><div> Ability to work with minimum supervision.</div></div></div><div><br></div>
Key Competency
<div> A minimum of three (3) years experience in physical planning.</div><div> Training as evidenced by the possession of a Graduate Degree in Planning, Geography, Earth Science, Geographical Information System or any other suitable discipline.</div>
