Job Description
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><span lang="EN-TT" style="mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">In accordance with the Laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Chap. 35:50 and Fire Service (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations 1998, the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) invites suitably qualified males who meet the requirements to apply for the position of Firefighter-Grade 1-Fire Service Division, Ministry of Homeland Security.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">1. Candidates shall not be less than eighteen (18) years and not more than thirty-five (35) years of age.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">2. Candidates must be: -</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>a. A citizen of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>b. Candidates must be in possession of any two of the following: -</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>a. National Identification Card, Drivers Permit or Passport issued by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>b. Three (3) CSEC/CXC/GCE Passes</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>i. English A (General Proficiency Grade I &amp; II or III after 1998) Compulsory requirement</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>ii. Candidates would be required to: -</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>a. Register with EmployTT</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>b. Create and activate a profile on the EmployTT platform</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span style="white-space: normal;"><span style="white-space:pre"> </span>c. Apply for the position from the 13th to the 30th October, 2025</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">6. Candidate applications that meet the requirements &amp; qualifications will be required to write an Entrance Examination set &amp; managed by the Public Service Commission.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">7. Candidates who are successful in the Entrance Examination will be listed in order of merit by the Public Service Commission, those selected will be required to undergo a Physical Aptitude Test administered by the Fire Service School.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">8. Candidates who are successful in the Physical Aptitude Test will be required to attend an interview by a selection committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">9. Candidates who are successful in the Interview phase of the screening process will be required to undergo a Medical Examination conducted by a Government Medical Officer.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">10. Candidates who satisfy all requirements (1-9) above, shall be shortlisted to undergo a course of training at the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service School.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">11. Candidates who have been selected from the shortlist and have successfully completed the course referred to at (10) above and is, in every respect fit, shall be eligible to be considered for appointment as a Firefighter on probation for one (1) year.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif"><span lang="EN-TT" style="line-height: 115%;"></span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;tab-stops:385.8pt 485.0pt"><font face="Times New Roman, serif">12. Key and Critical Responsibilities
<span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;">This job requires the incumbent to provide firefighting, fire prevention and other emergency services to communities within the geographical area of a specific fire station.&nbsp; Functions include conducting checks and tests on fire service appliances and equipment, conducting familiarization visits to factories and institutions, inspecting fire hydrants within station ground, updating records and maintaining a filing system for the station.</span>
