Job Description
The Job Holder provides leadership and management for the team or department of Social Workers and the Victim and Witness Support Unit. They are responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality social work services, within a specific area like child welfare, adult services, or a broader social care setting. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, performance management, staff development, and maintaining professional standards. <div> </div><div><br></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Oversee the clinical and administrative service delivery of the Police Social Work Unit and the Victim and Witness Support Unit.</li><li>Co-ordinate the delivery of mental health services to promote the well-being of police officers and civilians within the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.</li><li>Provide strategic guidance for the Victim and Witness Support Unit and the Police Social Work Unit in accordance with the strategic goals of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.</li><li>Co-ordinate and provide training to Police Officers in areas of Victim and Witness.</li><li>Make operational improvements for more efficient and effective service delivery of the Victim and Witness and Social Support Unit.</li><li>Develop and implement policies and procedure to meet the Trinidad and Tobago Polices Service vision for the Police Social Work Unit and the Victim and Witness Support Unit.</li><li>Design and deliver initiatives in the areas of victims' service and reducing the risks of crime victimization to various populations.</li><li>Develop programmes to manage crisis and trauma among staff of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.</li><li>Make public presentations to external agencies regarding services to deal with victims and witnesses of crime.</li><li>Meet with stakeholders, local and otherwise, to develop protocols and enhance services that address the needs of the public and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service community.</li><li>Determine appropriate service levels for the Victim and Witness Support Unit and the Police Social Work Unit.</li><li>Any other related duties assigned by the Commissioner of Police as it relates to the position.</li></ul>

KNOWLEDGE: <div> </div><ul><li>Extensive knowledge of social work practice and relevant legislation, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Key knowledge areas include child protection, safeguarding, risk assessment and case management principles.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</span></p><ul><li>Ability to contribute to the Strategic Planning process particularly as it relates to the operations of the Social Work and Victim and Witness Support Unit. </li><li>Ability to take control and exercise leadership to ensure the department's targets are achieved. </li><li>Ability to initiate action, give direction and take responsibility. </li><li>Excellent relationship management and communication skills necessary for interacting with officials in the wider financial sector. </li><li>Ability to adjust positively to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change. </li><li>Ability to make effective decisions even under difficult circumstances. </li><li>Must display a high level of integrity and reliability. </li><li>Ability to work independently or as part of a team, and must also have the ability to multi task. </li><li>Ability to consider the impact of decisions and actions within the context of the organization's goals. </li><li>Manages well in a stressful environment and handles criticism effectively.</li></ul><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"><br></span></p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING.</span></p><ul><li>Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field. </li><li>Three - Five years' supervisory experience in a social service or related field. </li><li>Training in Psychological Assessment would be an asset.</li></ul><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>
