Job Description
The incumbent is required to contribute to the achievement of the communications targets of the&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Ministry/Department and assist in monitoring their implementation. Duties include coordinating media&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">relations strategies, producing and disseminating materials for communicating information about the&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Ministry/Department and its services; coordinating the content of the intranet or external website and&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">the production of a quarterly newsletter; disseminating reports and publications; and maintain an&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">updated database of contacts and an effective communication system within the Ministry/Department.&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Depending on work assignment, the incumbent will be required to perform duties in one or more of the&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Communications functional areas.&nbsp;</span>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li><b>Strategy and Measurement</b> - Supports the development and execution of the Departments marketing and communications strategy through research, content management, stakeholder engagement, and public information programmes. Monitors sector developments, analyzes data to inform policy and reports, and prepares briefs, notes, and other official communications.</li><li><b>Product and Events</b> - Develops and implements marketing and media strategies and activities, while assisting with public outreach materials and coordinating internal communications.</li><li><b>Media and Advertising</b> - Develops and executes media strategies for announcements and events, coordinating interviews and producing communications such as press releases to keep the public informed. Monitors media trends and news coverage, prepares media summaries, and manages responses to adverse publicity.</li><li><b>Stakeholder Engagement </b>- Provides protocol and stakeholder engagement support, manages correspondence, coordinates public interactions and events, and maintains stakeholder information to support departmental outreach.</li></ul>
Key Competencies
<p>Knowledge of communications strategy, media relations, social marketing, stakeholder engagement, protocol procedures, and Government policies. Strong skills in project implementation, research, e-Government platforms, Microsoft Office, and high-level written and oral communication, with the ability to plan, organize, and build effective working relationships.</p><p><b><u><i>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: </i></u></b></p><ul><li>Minimum two (2) years experience in Communications or Public Relations, preferably in the Public Sector. </li><li>Training as evidenced by a recognised University Degree in Communications Studies or a related discipline. </li><li>Any suitable combination of experience and training.</li></ul>
