Job Description
To devise and implement the efficient administration and functioning of the various sections within the Finance and Accounts Department.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Prepares and administers Corporations Budget as a part of the Finance Budget Team <div> Supervises subordinate staff performing accounting operations </div><div> Plans and administers accounting services and advises on accountancy problems </div><div> Plans, installs and advises on budgetary and other accounting systems </div><div> Assists in formulation of policies and advises on all associated problems </div><div> Prepare and maintain policy and procedures manuals for all functions within the Finance and Accounts Department </div><div> Amalgamates estimates of income and expenditure from various sections and branches into a consolidated budget proposal for the Corporation, and makes recommendations for changes where necessary </div><div> Coordinates budgetary and accounting activities of the Finance Department </div><div> Develops, installs and maintains budgeting systems which provide for control of expenditure and efficient revenue accounting </div><div> Analyses estimates of income and expenditure, and raises and resolve any queries </div><div> collects, collates, analyses and issues appropriate financial statistics in the preparation of the budget or for use in salary or wage negotiations </div><div> Notifies relevant Department and Section Heads of approved Budget and variances </div><div> Visits Out-Stations to ascertain progress and reports on capital works, and ensures that systems are functioning satisfactorily </div><div> Preparation of monthly reports for Subcommittees of the Board and Ministries as required </div><div> Performs related work as may be required </div><div><br></div>
Key Competencies
Qualified professional in ACCA/CIMA/CMA/. <div> Considerable knowledge and experience in the application of Accounting Standards </div><div> Working experience in the preparation of accurate accounting reports and financial statements. </div><div> Minimum of five (5) years management experience, three (3) at a supervisory level. </div><div> Working knowledge of Financial Information Management Systems (SAGE would be an asset). </div><div> Considerable experience in professional accounting work at a Senior Supervisory level with specific responsibilities for budgeting and management accounting in general.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div><b>REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: </b></div><div> Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices. </div><div> Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel. </div><div> Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skillsusing logic and reasoning, the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, or approaches to problems. </div><div> Knowledge of HR Plus will be an asset. </div><div> Knowledge of Inventory Control systems will be an asset. </div><div>Any combination of experience and academic qualifications from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. </div><div><br></div><div> </div><div> </div>
