Job Description
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing budgets, reporting on performance, preparing various analytical reports, controlling and managing costs through variance analyses, advising on financial implications of business decisions to aid growth and profit. In addition, the person will have responsibility for developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures and managing the companys treasury and debtors function.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Budgeting and Costing <div>a. Prepares Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure annually and Mid-Year Review semi-annually, in compliance with the Call Circular issued annually by the Ministry of Finance. </div><div>b. Prepares monthly variance analysis reports reporting actual results against budget, providing explanations for all variances and recommending corrective action to control operations. </div><div>c. Prepares costing reports for various products, contribution and profitability reports by product lines and other analytical reports as requested by Management, utilizing relevant management accounting tools to assist in decision making.</div><div>Treasury </div><div>a. Manages the treasury function by monitoring cashflows and cash balances and advising on investments that allow income growth and capital appreciation. </div><div>b. Supervises and monitors the bank reconciliation ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reports and all outstanding items are cleared. </div><div>c. Reconciles the cash account monthly and clears all outstanding items timely. </div><div>d. Maintains a spreadsheet of investments held at financial institutions and prepares the relevant journals to record the investment interest monthly. </div><div>3. Accounts Receivable </div><div>a. Manages the accounts receivable function and reconciles the receivables account monthly, ensuring all reconciling items are cleared timely. </div><div>4. Policies and Procedures </div><div>a. Assists in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures for the effective control of business and financial risks and proper corporate governance. </div><div>5. Feasibility Studies </div><div>a. Analyses and reviews projects as they arise to determine financial feasibility. </div><div>6. Other </div><div>a. If required, supervises the reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts monthly, ensuring all reconciling items are cleared timely. </div><div>b. Provides leadership and prepares performance appraisals for all direct reports. </div><div>c. Any other related duties assigned by Management.</div><div><br></div>
