Job Description
<p>The incumbent is responsible for the coordination and supervision of research and policy development activities&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">within the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). Work Involves directing the collection, analysis, and&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">interpretation of data to support decision-making, strategic planning, and the preparation of high-level reports and&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">policy recommendations.</span></p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"><br></span></p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Coordinates and supervises the research activities of the Unit to ensure quality and timely outputs. <ul></ul></li><li>Designs and implements research methodologies, data collection instruments, and analytical models for use in&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">policy formulation and programme evaluation.</span></li><li>Prepares and reviews research reports, policy briefs, and analytical documents for internal and external&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">audiences, including submissions to the Executive, Parliament and Joint Select Committees.</span></li><li>Contributes to the development and review of TTPS strategic and operating plans, ensuring coherence with&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">national security and law enforcement priorities.</span></li><li>Collaborates with other Divisions, national security agencies, government ministries, and external stakeholders&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">to facilitate joint research initiatives and information exchange.</span></li><li>Monitors regional and international developments in policing and public safety to inform TTPS policies and&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">operational strategies.</span></li><li>Designs and conducts surveys and assessments on issues affecting poIicing, community engagement, and&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">organizational performance.</span></li><li>Presents research findings and policy recommendations at internal meetings, stakeholder consultations, and&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">conferences.</span></li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of research and&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">investigative methodologies.</span></li><li>A sound knowledge of the principles and practices of research and policy&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">design and planning.</span></li><li>Knowledge of policing, criminology, and public administration.</li><li>Knowledge of methods used for the development of strategic and work plans.</li><li>Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to use the Internet for research purposes.</li><li>Ability to collect, collate and critically analyze information, conduct research and make appropriate recommendations.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret data Including statistics using SPSS or any high level statistical software.</li><li>Ability to analyze and assess problems objectively.</li><li>Ability to prepare and present complex technical reports in a clear and concise manner.</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.</li><li>Ability to demonstrate good principles of ethics and integrity within the working environment.</li><li>Good Planning, Organization, Time Management Skills and Implementation skills.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</li><li>Ability to work independently.</li></ul><p><b style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"><br></b></p><p><b style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Minimum Experience And Training</b></p><ul><li>Training as evidenced by a recognized Master's Degree in the Social Sciences and extensive&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">experience in research work and training in public policy and planning, design, monitoring and&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">evaluation.</span></li><li>At least seven (7) years experience in research methodology and reports.&nbsp;</li><li><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Training in the use of statistical software e.g. S.P.S.S&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">or any equivalent combination of experience and training.</span></li></ul>
