Job Description
The incumbent would be required to conduct Spatial Planning research and gather data required for reports on land use, development planning and development control.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<div> Implements research programmes and projects approved by the Department.</div><div> Liaises with and secures data from relevant spatial planning agencies on issues related to planning in Tobago.</div><div> Collects data from other Divisions of the Tobago House of Assembly towards the effective implementation of the spatial planning functions in Tobago.</div><div> Produces quality recorded images, verifies metadata and inputs geospatial data.</div><div> Performs data editing and maintenance of operating systems and databases.</div><div> Integrates spreadsheets, statistical data and other research with GIS Software.</div><div> Formalizes the Geographical Information System arrangements for the Tobago House of Assembly.</div><div> Trains and provides technical support to GIS users internally.</div><div> Performs other related duties as may be required.</div><div><br></div><div> Knowledge of co-ordinate systems, map projections and data conversion techniques re: GIS.</div><div><div> Knowledge of data and metadata standards.</div><div> Knowledge of MS Access, database creation, manipulation and development.</div><div><br></div><div><div> Ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations.</div><div> Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</div><div> Ability to work as a member of a team with good problem solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.</div><div> Ability to maintain high ethical standards in internal and external relationships.</div><div><br></div></div></div><div><br></div>
Key Competency
<div> Experience in MS SQL Server and MS Access.</div><div> Training as evidenced by the possession of a Bachelors Degree in Planning, Geography, Earth Science, Geographical Information System or any other suitable discipline.</div>
