Job Description

Prevents, controls or extinguishes fires and responds to emergency situations where life, property or the environment is at risk.

Key and Critical Responsibilities

Monitors all work sites where hot work is being performed to ensure that they are free from fire hazards and to ensure that all necessary fire fighting equipment are on hand for use in the event of a fire.&nbsp;Inspects work site where hot work is to be performed prior to commencing of work to ensure that there are no potential fire hazards and take the necessary steps to prevent fires.&nbsp;Ensures that hot work permits are properly filled by all involved in the task and where necessary ensure toolbox talk is held prior to the start of the task.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ensures all persons are safely evacuated from the site in the event of a disaster.&nbsp;&nbsp;Responds to and where applicable extinguish or control any fire on the facility.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Remains onsite for a minimum period of thirty minutes after hot work has stopped.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Supplies vessel with fresh water, record meter readings and obtain verification from ships personnel. Copy of the fresh water slip is to be delivered to the Yard Support Services Managers office for processing.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Prepares air lines for ventilation or other works; prepares blowers for ventilation of confined spaces.Greases and maintains all fire hydrants, pumps, hoses and couplings within the facility.<o:p></o:p>Coordinates and monitors the pumping of bilges, waste oil/sludge from tanks and vessels;&nbsp;Monitoring of fueling operations on the piers and on vessels on drydock.Washes piers, roadways and other areas in the yard.<o:p></o:p>Initiates Environmental Spill response and prevention.<o:p></o:p>Attends to all injured persons or administer First Aid where appropriate.&nbsp;

Key Competency

Fire Fighting training as evidenced from the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services.<o:p></o:p>Evidence of School Leaving Certificate.
