Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p><b>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li><b>&nbsp;</b>Examines crime reports received by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service by providing an analytical review of the recommended strategies.</li><li>Identifies patterns, series and profiles as they emerge for rapid dissemination through the examination of crime data.</li><li>Compiles statistical reports and identifies emerging trends in crime, disorder, calls for service and traffic offences through the analysis of statistical information.</li><li>Researches, analyzes and reports on long term trends and chronic problems through the critical examination and interpretation of statistical data using qualitative and quantitative methodology.</li><li>Assists the Senior Crime Analysts and Lead Crime Analysts to identify and recommend operational and investigative tactics and strategies in the examination of the patterns, series, profiles and trends through the use of computer databases, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), word processing and other statistical&nbsp; applications to manipulate, analyze and present data on crime.</li><li>Prepare reports, charts, graphs and maps for administrative use by reading, interpreting and analyzing criminological data.</li><li>Responds to requests from Crime Investigators for crime analysis information relating to specific investigations/cases by providing a detailed analysis of the particular investigation/case.</li><li>Assists with the preparation of and presents presentations and briefings by sourcing and systematic compilation of data pertinent to the presentation and assisting in the coordination of activities at the Branch.</li><li>Assists the Senior Crime Analysts and Lead Crime Analysts working with the various divisions to identify cross-jurisdictional pattern and trends by examining the statistical reports and data.</li><li>Performs any related tasks as required.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
Key Competency
<p><b>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</b></p><ul><li>Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and crime mapping tools, which are indispensable in modern crime analysis.</li><li>Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or Python) for crime trend analysis and predictive modelling.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite</li><li>Excellent communications skills to convey complex analytical findings to diverse stakeholders.</li><li>Strong networking abilities to foster inter-agency collaboration.</li><li>Capacity to work independently and with minimal supervision while adhering to high standards of accountability.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><b><br></b></p><p><b>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING</b></p><ul><li>An Associate Degree in Criminology, Statistics, or a related field such as Data Analytics or Forensics Psychology.</li><li>Minimum one (1) year working experience with statistical data would be considered an asset.</li><li>A bachelor's degree in criminology, Statistics, or a related field such as Data Analytics or Forensic Psychology would be an asset.&nbsp;</li></ul>
