Job Description
The incumbent would be required to support the work of the Senior Physical Planner. Duties include producing reports, policy papers and site development reviews, evaluating the spatial planning framework and facilitating the application and development control process in Tobago.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<div> Conducts research in the area of physical planning to inform land use and local area planning in Tobago.</div><div> Reviews the National Spatial Development Strategy and provides recommendations for the land use policy in Tobago and the Tobago Spatial Development Strategy.</div><div> Assists with the development of regional cluster areas and rural development initiatives.</div><div> Surveys building developments for conformance with planning guidelines.</div><div> Carries out development control activities regarding planned and unplanned developments.</div><div> Recommends approval/refusal assessments to applications for permission to develop land.</div><div> Liaises with all relevant statutory agencies related to Town and Country Planning.</div><div> Liaises with all Divisions of the Assembly regarding spatial planning functions and the implications of their Development Programme for Spatial Planning.</div><div> Provides technical advice to the Assembly on major proposed development with spatial implications.</div><div> Performs other related duties as may be required.</div><div><br></div><div><div> Knowledge of the relevant legislative framework for Town and Country Planning.</div><div> Knowledge of site and building development standards, codes and regulations related to development.</div><div><br></div><div><div> Strong geo-spatial interpretations skills.</div><div> Excellent written and oral communication skills.</div><div> Mastery of computing suites relevant for the duties identified.</div><div> Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.</div><div> Ability to analyze multi-sectoral data and make appropriate recommendations.</div><div> Ability to maintain high ethical standards in internal and external relationships.</div><div> Ability to work independently.</div></div></div>
Key Competency
<div> Training as evidenced by the possession of a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Design, Planning and Development or related discipline.</div><div> Professional member of the Trinidad and Tobago Society of Planners.</div>
