Job Description
The Research Specialist is responsible for the undertaking of research work to support the continued maintenance and development of new and existing Police Academy Programmes at various levels.  Further, responsible for the coordinating of research activities in the various functional areas of the Police Academy. 
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>Identifies and catalogues best practices in all aspects of professional policing.&nbsp;</li><li>Conducts research studies for the purpose of determining needs for training, development and accreditation.</li><li>Develops research surveys, questionnaires or tests.&nbsp;</li><li>Conducts focus group and interviews for research purposes.</li><li>Compiles, collates, analyzes, evaluates and interprets data collected.&nbsp;</li><li>Provides statistical data on the Academy's training programmes.</li><li>Coordinates the compilation of data for the Academy's administrative reports.</li><li>Formulates policy and guidelines for conducting research and evaluation of programmes and courses offered at the Police Academy.&nbsp;</li><li>Supports the registration of the Police Academy with the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT).</li><li>Conducts constant assessment of training needs in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.</li><li>Prepares statistical and other reports based on research findings.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinates the work of a group of lower-level staff.&nbsp;</li><li>Responsible for the monitoring and evaluating of courses and programmes.</li><li>Any other related duties.</li><li>Work on weekends (when the need arises).</li></ul>
