Job Description
The incumbent should possess a well-developed theoretical and practical knowledge of occupational safety and health standards, principles and practices. The Officer will be responsible for assisting in the implementation and monitoring of health and safety programmes.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p>- Conduct independent research. </p><p>-Maintain OSH related records and documentation at the Divisions/Units in accordance with legal compliance and approved standards. conduct routine safety inspections. </p><p>-Perform preliminary work in the preparation of programmes, plans, risk assessments and inspection reports. </p><p>-Assist in training and education of staff on issues related to safety and health. </p><p>-Assist in the compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual health and safety reports and statistics. </p><p>-Assist in gathering information for investigation of incidents/accidents </p><p>-Provide other basic administrative services (answering calls, sending emails, typing etc.) </p><p>-Assist in the procurement of OSG related goods and services. </p><p>-Performs other related duties.</p>
Key Competencies
<div><b><u>KNOWLEDGE:</u></b></div><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">- Knowledge of laws, regulations and codes related to Occupational Safety and Health in Trinidad and Tobago.</span></p><p>- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.</p><p>- Good interpersonal and communication skills.</p><p>- Good organizational skills.</p><p><br></p><p><b><u>SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</u></b></p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">- Ability to give basic direction and advice on safety and health matters.</span></p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"><br></span></p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"><b><u>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:</u></b></span> <br class="Apple-interchange-newline"></p><p>- A recognized Diploma or Associate Degree or NEBOSH Certification in Occupational Safety and Health. A Bachelors Degree will be considered an asset. </p><p>- A minimum of one (1) year experience in the field of occupational safety and health. </p><p>- Any equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered.</p><p></p>
