Job Description
<p>The incumbent is responsible for performing inspections of plans for construction of buildings and land development to ensure compliance to Building Laws, codes and regulations, as well as, inspection of buildings before, during and after completion to ensure adherence to approved plans.</p><p>REPORTS TO: Building Inspector 1 </p><p>SUPERVISED BY: Building Inspector 1</p><p><br></p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li>&nbsp;Processing of Building Applications and Subdivision applications received from Town &amp; Country Planning Division for Approval, On-line and Paper based.</li><li>Inspection of Construction of Buildings before, during and after completion.</li><li>Processing of Amended drawings for Approval, On-line and Paper based.</li><li>Processing of Sub-division (Provisional &amp; Final Approval).</li><li>Complaint investigation.</li><li>Investigation of complaints of Illegal Structure etc.</li><li>Responsible for identifying and serving, Show Cause Notices, Stop Notices and Demolition Notices.</li><li>Preparation of reports and recommendation for Councils Approval.</li><li>Processing of Completion Certificate for Approval.</li><li>Meeting and Advising burgesses on matters and concerns within the jurisdiction of the Princes Town Regional Corporation.</li><li>Coordinating with the various Advisory Agencies.</li><li>All other related matters.</li></ul><div><br></div>

<p></p><p></p><ul></ul><p></p><ul><li>In depth knowledge of the Public Health Ordinance, the Municipal Corporation Act, Town &amp; Country Building Laws and Building Bye- Laws and regulations. Ability to retrieve, read and interpret On-line building and land development plans.<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">&nbsp;</span></li><li>Ability to read and interpret building and land development plans, on-line and paper base, and to identify deviations from building and land development laws and codes.<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">&nbsp;</span></li><li>Ability to identify non- compliance to Building Laws and codes and to effectively enforce compliance to same.</li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: " work="" sans";"="">Ability to check structural details on diagrams of reinforced concrete, steel and timber structures.</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: " work="" sans";"=""><p class="MsoNormal">Ability to work with contractors, architects and other associates.</p></span></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Ability to effectively explain and interpret provisions of the Building Bye Laws, Codes and R<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">egulations to contractors, architects, property owners and other associates.</span></p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Ability to prepare reports of building and land development activities in a clear and precise manner.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Be able to lay complaints, serve notices and represent Organization in legal proceedings.<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">&nbsp;</span></p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Ability to operate a computer system.<o:p></o:p></p></li></ul>
