Job Description
<span style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">The incumbent is expected to provide and facilitate the conduct&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">of Research in support of Trinidad and Tobagos external trade&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">negotiations, and the administration of domestic Trade,&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Industrial, and Services policies.</span>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Undertakes research, planning and evaluation exercises&nbsp;<span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">relative to achieving the overall trade, business and investment&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">objectives of MTI.</span></li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Prepares comprehensive analytical and evaluative reports and&nbsp;<span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">findings.</span></li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Advises on the potential impact of existing trade agreements&nbsp;<span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">on the ability of local firms to complete in the liberalized global&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">economy.</span></li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Examines the various conditions and regulations which will&nbsp;<span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">determine Trinidad and Tobagos compliance with various trade&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">agreements in order to recommend re negotiation of those text&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">where feasible.</span></li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Provides statistical data on potential markets.</li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Collects data on trends from domestic foreign agencies/&nbsp;<span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">institutions.</span></li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Liaises and collaborates with other Research Units in&nbsp;<span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Government Ministries and Departments, quasi government&nbsp;</span><span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">bodies and private organizations.</span></li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Develops and tracks MTIs performance indicators.</li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Undertakes market intelligence activities.</li><li style="color: rgb(68, 68, 68); letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Ensures the maintenance of a system of safe-keeping of research&nbsp;<span style="transition-property: all; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">records and data.</span></li></ul>
