<p>The Ultrasonographer II is a senior clinical professional responsible for performing advanced ultrasound procedures and supporting departmental workflow. </p><div>The Ultrasonographer II supervises junior staff, and contributes to clinical and operational excellence within the Radiology Department. The incumbent supports quality assurance, assists with protocol development, and works in collaboration with Radiologists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate diagnostic outcomes. Leadership, training, and mentorship are integral components of this role. The officer is required to continually revise, review and monitor the ultrasound workload to meet the needs of each service user.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management. </div><div><br></div><p></p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<p>&nbsp;Liaises with all Radiologists and the Consultant Radiologists/Obstetricians. </p><p>Maintains high standards of professionalism and personal conduct in the department. </p><p>Maintains accurate patient records both manually and electronically with regard to appointments, statistics and reporting. </p><p>Directs the duties of professional, technical, nursing and clerical staff and their allocation and rotation within the Ultrasound Department. </p><p>Trains Radiographic, X-Ray assistants and nursing staff on ultrasound matters. </p><p>Liaises with Radiologists in respect of special examinations and for the supervision of all specialized techniques. </p><p>Assists with the implementation and maintenance of the Radiographic Quality Assurance program across the range of ultrasound.</p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Assists the Regional Co-ordinator Radiology Services, in reporting and investigating complaints, incidents, accidents or grievances in accordance with the Regional Policy.</span></p><p>Observes procedures designed to promote Health &amp; Safety within the department. </p><p>Responsible for the provision of an efficient highly specialized clinical service, and maintaining a high standard of ultrasound imaging through quality and protocol standards. </p><p>Assists in the formulation of improved patient care pathways and imaging protocols. </p><p>Operates ultrasound equipment safely and demonstrates an active role in their daily maintenance and quality assurance checks. </p><p>Ensures that equipment malfunction and/or change in image quality is notified promptly to the Senior Radiographer. </p><p>To take a participative and proactive role in CPD, keeping documentary evidents for review in an up to date portfolio. </p><p>To participate in on call duties as required by the department. </p><p> Performs related work as required for the benefit of South-West Regional Health Authority. </p><p>To support clinical training by mentoring, assessing, supervising, and guiding staff and students as necessary in the work area. </p><p>Good interpersonal and good communication skills. </p><p>Clinical expertise in Obstetric, Gynecological and medical ultrasound examination. </p><p>Ability to cope with and respond change. </p><p>To be aware of and adhere to SWRHA policies and procedures. </p><p>Able to work as part of a team. </p><p>Sound knowledge of current issues in professional practice. </p><p>Able to self-motivate and motivate others. </p><p>Able to demonstrate organizational skills.</p><p>Be aware of and adhere to South-West Regional Health Authoritys Policies &amp; Procedures including: </p><p>o Health &amp; Safety at work </p><p>o Grievance Procedure </p><p>o Disciplinary Procedure </p><p>o No Smoking </p><p>o Attendance &amp; Punctuality </p><p>Be aware of and adhere to the Imaging Departments Policies including: </p><p>o Control of infection </p><p>o Prevention of Sharp injury </p><p>o Ionizing Radiation Protection and Local Rules </p><p>o Fire Procedures </p><p>o COSHH </p><p>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.</p><p> </p><p></p>
Key Competencies
<p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Recognized Qualifications in Ultrasound as evident by a Diploma or Associate Degree.</span></p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">An Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiography or Allied Healthcare field.</span></p><p>A minimum of three (3) years postgraduate experience in active Ultrasonography practice.</p><p>Registration with the Council of Professions Related to Medicine.</p><p>Associate membership or registration with the American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or equivalent would be an asset.</p><p><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Any equivalent combination of training and experience</span></p><div><br></div>
