Job Description
<p>The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and monitoring of heritage-related policies, strategies, and legislative frameworks to support the effective protection, management, and sustainable use of Tobagos cultural and built heritage. The incumbent provides strategic and technical guidance to ensure alignment with national and international standards, supports programme implementation, and facilitates collaboration among government entities, community stakeholders, and partner institutions.</p><p><br></p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<div>Coordinate the development, review, and implementation of heritage policies, strategies, guidelines, and legislative instruments to support the mandate of the Department of Antiquities. </div><div> Analyse existing and proposed legislation, policies, and development initiatives to assess their implication for heritage protection, land use, and sustainable development. </div><div> Contribute to the preparation of the Tobago Heritage Policy, Heritage Bill, and related regulatory frameworks, in collaboration with relevant Divisions and legal authorities. </div><div> Support strategic planning processes by developing work programmes, objectives, and implementation plans related to heritage management and conservation. </div><div> Provide oversight and coordination for heritage-related projects and programmes, including heritage management plans, protection initiatives, and policy-driven interventions. </div><div> Build and maintain effective working relationships with government agencies, community organizations, cultural groups, academic institutions, and other key stakeholders. </div><div> Represent the Department at consultations, inter-agency meetings, public forums, and stakeholder engagements relating to heritage policy and management. </div><div> Provide technical and policy advice to the Director and senior management on heritage governance, policy options and emerging issues. </div><div> Prepare policy briefs, technical reports, submissions and briefing materials for internal review and Executive Council consideration. </div><div> Monitor programme performance and contribute to departmental reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement processes. </div><div> Supervise and guide assigned staff and project teams, ensuring effective delivery of outputs and adherence to established standards. </div><div> Performs other duties related to the core functions of the position. </div><div><br></div>
Key Competencies
