Job Description
Responsible for the effective management and overall performance of the <div>Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management. The incumbent will be required to work closely with the Minister of Homeland Security and other senior officials of the private and public sectors as well as international organizations </div><div><br></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Directs and manages the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Managements development, strategy and performance. <div> </div><div> Develops and implements a National Disaster Management Plan and a Comprehensive Disaster Management Policy. </div><div> Provides the exchange of information and facilitates the alignment of regional and international policies on Disaster Risk Management with those of Trinidad and Tobago. </div><div> Identifies policies, programmes and projects to educate the national community on Disaster Risk Management. </div><div> Researches and produces investigative reports/studies with respect to ecological and environmental issues as these relate to the likelihood of disasters in Trinidad and Tobago. </div><div> Reviews and promotes the development of disaster/hazard risk assessment maps of Trinidad and Tobago. </div><div> Advises the Minister of Homeland Security on the country's national, regional and international Disaster Risk Management obligations. </div><div> Develops, implements, monitor, reviews and evaluates the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Managements multi-year strategic plan and annual work programmes. </div><div> Manages responses to national and regional emergencies and disasters with assistance from public and private sector agencies. </div><div> Acts as the national focal point of contact with international and regional disaster management agencies. </div><div> Liaises with other state agencies and relevant government agencies to ensure adherence to laws, regulations and building codes as they pertain to disaster risk management. </div><div><br></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>
Key Competencies
A Masters Degree in Disaster Management, Natural Resources Management or related field in addition to a minimum of five (5) years experience in a managerial capacity. <div> </div><div>or </div><div> A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Environment Science in addition to ten (10) years experience in a managerial capacity. </div><div> Experience in Logistics Planning and Project Management will be an asset. </div><div> Extensive knowledge of Disaster Preparedness Management. </div><div> Excellent interpersonal and team building skills. </div><div> Effective communication and negotiation skills. </div><div> Must have demonstrated leadership abilities and strong problem-solving skills. </div><div> Sound decision-making capacity. </div><div> Expected to be on call 24/7 and respond to emergencies. </div><div><br></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>
