Job Description
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: " work="" sans";"="">Performs technical and maintenance functions in support of the operational efficiency of facilities managed by the Ministry.</span><span style="font-family: " work="" sans";"=""></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:107%;font-family:" arial",sans-serif"=""><o:p></o:p></span></p>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<ul><li style="text-align: justify;">Performs periodic checks on all of the Ministry's buildings to ensure optimal operability of plant and equipment.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Maintains work schedules for effective preventive maintenance of building and equipment systems.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Checks regularly the Ministry's equipment/building systems such as elevators, cooling towers, water level in tanks, generators and air conditioning systems.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Assists with implementing and managing compliance measures to ensure health and safety standards are adhered to.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Liaises with contractors/service providers maintaining the facilities, fittings and equipment.</li><li style="text-align: justify; ">Assists in processing requests for property utilization and assists in monitoring the utilization of all facilities.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Provides support for senior officers in implementing facility standards and policies, security and logistics management and procurement of goods and services.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Provides support for senior officers with space planning, furniture and equipment acquisition and layout and other interior design issues.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Provides input into costing and budgetary exercises.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Assists with the development, population and management of relevant facility management databases.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Assists with various tasks such as site and work inspection, monitoring servicing of generators, elevators, pumps, air condition, installation of plumbing and electrical equipment, measuring of areas for tiles, carpet, window blinds, seeking quotations for services and supplies.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Prepares site reports, project reports and other status reports as required and requested.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Assembles and sets up equipment and public address systems for events at various venues.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Checks and performs minor repairs to phones, lines, including extensions and direct lines.</li><li style="text-align: justify; ">Installs telephone extensions in various offices when necessary.</li><li style="text-align: justify; ">Checks and performs minor repairs on fax machines, printers and calculators.</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify;"><br></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><b><u>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</u></b></p><ul><li style="text-align: justify;">Knowledge of modern and effective facilities management and maintenance issues including electrical, air-conditioning, plumbing and general construction, facilities standards and practices.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Working knowledge of office accommodation and office layouts.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Knowledge of legislation and policy governing the utilization of office and operational accommodation.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Ability to prepare accurate and timely reports.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Ability to be proactive in identifying general weaknesses and shortcomings in the operations of building systems and equipment and use initiative in reliably resolving these problems.</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><b><u>Qualifications and Experience:</u></b></p><ul><li style="text-align: justify; ">Technical Diploma or the equivalent in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Works, Interior Design, Building and Facilities Management or related discipline.</li><li style="text-align: justify; ">Microsoft Office/MS Project.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Three (3) years experience as a member of a Facilities Management or Property Development Team.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Any equivalent combination of qualifications, skills and experience.</li></ul>
