Job Description
<div style="text-align: justify; ">The Paralegal (Administrative Review Secretariat) is responsible for providing legal and administrative support&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">within the Administrative Review Secretariat. Duties include conducting research, preparing both legal and&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">other documents, analysing legal issues, drafting legal opinions and papers, generating reports, managing&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">the filing and maintenance of records, and copying and collating documents. The Paralegal also provides&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">support to the Office of the Corporate Secretary as and when required.</span></div>
Key and Critical Responsibilities
<div style="text-align: justify;"><u>Provides legal support</u></div><ul><li style="text-align: justify;"> Conducts legal research on legal issues arising from Challenge and&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Ineligibility Proceedings using case laws, relevant legislation and other&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">sources, and prepares opinions and other documents</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"> Drafts correspondence, memos and other documents or papers of a&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">routine nature</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"> Collaborates with the Legal Policy Research Officer and Senior Legal&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Counsel on research projects</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"> Collaborates with Secretariat staff to assist with the review,&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">development and recommendations on legislation, policies, manuals,&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">guidelines other documents of a legal nature, for the operations of the&nbsp;</span>department</li><li style="text-align: justify;"> Completes monthly reports for the Department</li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"> Collaborates with Secretariat staff to prepare notices, orders, decisions,&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">case files, responses to stakeholders and other documents as required&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">for Challenge and Ineligibility Proceedings</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"> Provides legal support to the relevant stakeholders with respect to&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">capacity building sessions both internally and externally by conducting&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">research, and preparing and formatting content</span></li></ul><div style="text-align: justify; "><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"><u>Provides administrative support</u></span></div><ul><li style="text-align: justify;"> Establishes and maintains record keeping systems and processes, both&nbsp;<span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">manually and electronically inclusive of creation, filing, maintenance,&nbsp;</span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">retrieving and verification of legal records and other documents to&nbsp;</span>ensure leading practices in all matters</li><li style="text-align: justify;"> Copies, scans, prints and collates documents</li></ul><div style="text-align: justify; "><br></div><div style="text-align: justify; ">Full Job Description can be viewed at:&nbsp;https://oprtt.org/careers/</div>
Key Competency
<div><b><u>Qualifications &amp; Experience</u></b></div><ul><li>An Associate Degree or equivalent paralegal certification</li><li>Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) would be an asset</li></ul><div><div>Or</div><div><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;">Any equivalent combination of experience and training</span></div><div><span style="letter-spacing: 0.4px;"><br></span></div></div><div><ul><li>A minimum of 1 - 2 years experience working in a legal environment</li></ul><p>Or</p><ul><li style="text-align: justify; ">Through demonstrated proficiency in conducting research, drafting legal and other documents, and</li></ul><div>performing clerical and administrative duties such as maintenance of records and files</div></div>
