Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for providing technical assistance for the coordination and implementation of youth development programmes in various administrative districts of the Youth Affairs Division. The employee exercises some degree of initiative and independent judgement within the framework of the policies established by the Youth Affairs Division and his/her work is reviewed for effectiveness by a superior through visits, meetings, reports and discussions.    
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Coordinates and implements Youth Development programmes in various districts of Trinidad and Tobago. <div> Mobilizes young people within communities to participate in Youth Development programmes. </div><div> Sources and maintains youth-friendly spaces for various Youth Developmental programmes. </div><div> Creates and maintains a database of various groups, organizations and unattached youths within districts. </div><div> Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders within each community (such as schools, businesses, individuals, etc.) </div><div> Develops and maintains a database of service providers who offer services to young people. </div><div> Prepares detailed reports on youth development activities to the Director of Youth Affairs. </div><div> Provides information to young people on the various services offered by the Youth Division (such as Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centres). </div><div> Conducts visits to various organizations within districts. </div><div><br></div>
Key Competencies
<p><b><u>KNOWLEDGE</u></b></p><p> Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. </p><p> Some knowledge of youth development practice, methods and techniques.</p><p><b><u>SKILLS AND ABILITIES</u></b>&nbsp;</p><p> Ability to assess community needs in areas of youth development. </p><p> Ability to collect, record, collate, analyse and maintain reliable data on youth programmes. </p><p> Ability to network with other agencies and mobilize young people in communities. </p><p> Ability to identify and promote leadership within the community in order to promote youth development. </p><p> Ability to work flexible hours including weekends. </p><p> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agencies, employees and young persons in communities. </p><p><b><u>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING&nbsp;</u></b></p><p> Experience (18 months to 4 years) in the development of youth programmes and policies. </p><p> Some experience (6 to 18 months) in youth and/or community work. </p><p> Training as evidenced by a Bachelors Degree in Youth Work, Social Work, Behavioural Sciences or a related field. </p><p> Any equivalent combination of experience and training. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
